Sika Sound Journey

Sika’s music relies heavily on field recordings of nature, native flutes, drums, stones and deep didgeridoo pulses.
Hanover Hall is a premier venue for Sika's Sound Journeys because its church architecture was meticulously converted into the acoustic headquarters for the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra. Expertly tuned acoustic panels reduced the room's echo to a crisp, pristine level, allowing Sika’s delicate flutes and ambient field recordings to ring out with stunning clarity. Simultaneously, the grand, high ceilings give low-frequency didgeridoos and heavy drums the massive vertical space they need to resonate without distortion. Fully insulated and heated, this world-class orchestral space guarantees absolute comfort and a deep, warm physical resonance for participants lying on the floor.
Sika’s quietest, most delicate flute or whispering transitions will fill the room and create a cozy, "shared cocoon" and collective energy.
An exclusive, high-vibe experience that aligns beautifully with Sika's earth-focused instrumentation

Something between an ancient ceremony and a movie soundtrack.

Please bring a yoga mat, pillow and blanket. Be prepared to drop into a deep space.
Door sales will be available if there is space. Advanced booking is recommended.

Sika's toolkit features:

The Didgeridoo: Providing a deeply grounding, resonant low-frequency base.
Māori Taonga Pūoro: Traditional New Zealand "singing treasures" (like the pūtātara, hue, and kōauau) that introduce haunting, unusual "voices" to the room.
Native American Style Flutes & Hoop Drums: Adding melodic, sweeping airscapes and steady, organic, trance-inducing rhythms.

• Foraged Soundscapes & Nature Recordings
What sets Sika apart is his extensive history of field-recording the wilderness of New Zealand and Australia. He weaves live elemental textures into his journeys using:
Natural Artifacts: Live manipulating of leaves, stones, bones, and shells.
Field Audio: Seamlessly layering ambient sounds of roaring wind, crackling fire, water, and wildlife.
Modern Analogue Synthesis: Integrating deep textures from high-tech tools like the Moog synthesizer to create unrecognizable, rich, and abstract audio cocoons.

• Deep Shamanic & Liminal Space Exploration
Rather than just providing simple background music for relaxation, Sika constructs a deliberate, wordless passage. By mixing harmonious tones with the tension and release of discordant frequencies, he guides listeners into a meditative, liminal state where the boundaries of rational time soften. Participants frequently experience vivid waking dreams, ancestral memory recall, sudden clarity, or profound emotional releases.

• Endorsement from Cultural Elders
Sika's work is uniquely anchored by his deep connection to the lands he visits. He has been recognized and endorsed by significant Māori, Native American, and Aboriginal elders (including the Yuin tribe of South Australia) for his respectful and highly conscious handling of indigenous sound medicine and elemental energies.

• Captivating Sacred Space Performances
Sika frequently takes his tours across New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. He acts as an international staple at spirit festivals and sells out distinct, energetic venues ranging from subterranean caves (Carnglaze Caverns) to monolithic, open-air historical locations like Stonehenge and Avebury.

Sika creates a safe space to relax deeply and connect with our inner guidance. This Sound Journey begins and ends with a short guided visualisation.
There will be two journeys with an interval. Most people choose to lie down, so once again, please bring a yoga mat, pillow and blanket to get really comfortable.
A journal is also recommended.
